Model Villages for ST

The Govt. of Assam has made budget allocation during the year 2017-18 for conversion of 12(Twelve) Nos. of villages into Model villages in ST dominated areas of Assam under priority/signature projects as per PMAGY guidelines @ Rs. 500.00 lakhs each out of which an amount of 1200.00 lakhs (@ Rs. 100.00 lakhs each) has been allocated in the budget for 2017-18:

The objective of the construction of the Model villages are as follows:

  • Prevent distress migration from rural to urban areas, which is a common phenomenon in India’s villages due to lack of opportunities and facilities that guarantee a decent standard of living.
  • Make the model village a “hub” that could attract resources for the development of other villages in its vicinity.
  • Provide easier, faster and cheaper access to urban markets for agricultural produce or other marketable commodities produced in such villages.
  • Contribute towards social empowerment by engaging all sections of the community in the task of village development.
  • Create and sustain a culture of cooperative living for inclusive and rapid development.

We propose to include the following steps for the Model villages as :

Better health – with special focus on maternal and child health
Practical and smart education
Housing & livelihood  Capacity building of all stakeholders
Clean drinking water & sanitation
Environmental sustainability
Community involvement
Planning for Village Development
Mobilizing resources for the Plan, with active engagement with elected representative
Monitoring the utilization of government funds to increase accountability
Influencing personal and community behavior
Technology
Delivery of government services
ICT and space technology in the aid of farmers
Remote sensing for resource mapping and better utilization of existing assets
Land records modernization
Biometrics for better targeting of services such as PDS, insurance, pension
Connectivity
Physical connectivity to towns and other places through roads
Easy and cheap means of transportation
Digital connectivity and mobile connectivity
Augmenting power connectivity through off-grid renewable sources
Financial connectivity

Model villages for SC

The Govt. of Assam has made budget allocation during the year 2017-18 for conversion of 12 (Twelve) Nos. of villages into Model villages in selected Census Village with more than 40% SC population

Aims &Objectives:-

• To ensure integrated development of the selected Census Village with more than 40% SC population into “Model Villages” so that they have all requisite physical and social infrastructure for their overall socio economic development.

• Empowerment of the SC people through income generating projects like fishery, weaving, modern methods of farming, horticulture, etc.

• To improve the dwelling health and hygienic conditions of the SC people of the village.

Vision of a Model Village:-A Model Village is one which has adequate physical and institutional infrastructure, in which minimum needs of all sections of the society are fully met, where they can live in harmony with each other, as also with the environment and a village which is progressive and dynamic. These villages shall be covered with all the facilities necessary for dignified living.An amount of Rs.100.00 Lakhs will be utilized for implementation of projects/schemes at the each selected Census Villages with SC predominant population and Rs.5.00 lakhs for contingency expenditure. (Rs.100.00L+ Rs.5.00L= Rs.105.00L)

During 2016-17 the following Sc Model Village Schemes were taken up and Administrative Approval was accorded by the WPT& BC Govt. of Assam. Work presently going on.
